12-C-10 Granular Feeder
HOW THE SYSTEM WORKS
1. The system is started and stopped by either manually pushing the start or stop buttons on the panel, or if equipped with optional level switches, can be automatically started and stopped as solution is required in the mixing/aging tank.
2. When the system starts, the following operations occur in sequence, automatically.
- The air operated ball valve on the discharge of the pump opens
- The vacuum vent valve located on the mixing chamber closes.
- The pump starts and operates without product injection until the water level in
the mixing chamber reaches the proper level. (approximately 1” from the top
of the clear mixing chamber wall.)
- The air operated poppet begins to cycle.
- The water level in the fresh water feed tank is maintained by the float valve
located inside the tank.
- The water level in the mixing chamber is monitored and maintained by level
switches for both high and low level.
- The system, aided by vacuum, sprays granulated product into the water vortex
where it is mixed prior to entering the pump. The pump aids in mixing the
solution and discharges into the mixing/aging tank before injection into the
process.
3. When the system stops, the following operations occur, in sequence, automatically.
- Either the operator pushes the “stop” button or the system automatically
senses that the solution tank is full and sends a signal to the control panel to
stop the system.
- The product feed stops instantly.
- The pump continues to pump for a pre-set period, usually about 45 seconds
until all product has been flushed from the mixing chamber and pump.
- The pump stops.
- The automatic valve located on the pump discharge closes.
- The mixing chamber vacuum vent valve is opened allowing air to enter the
chamber.
- As the vortex flattens in the chamber, the water level gradually seeks the same
level as in the feed tank.
- The system waits for the next “start” command.
