Home : Chemical Blend Systems : What is Chemical Blending Chemical Blend Systems What is Closed Environmental Dry Chemical Blending? What is Closed Environmental Dry Chemical Blending? Most dry granulated chemicals and powdered products are sensitive to the environment. These same products can also present handling and safety issues when exposed to personnel. Hammonds has eliminated these concerns by providing a system that maintains a closed environment in which granular chemical and powders are contained throughout the entire blending process. Utilizing a variety of container sizes and configurations, product is stored in sealed, air free containers until it is introduced into the system for mixing. Throughout the blending process, both the chemical and solution fluids are contained in a sealed environment. Here's How it Works 1 Source Tank Untreated fluid is received into a level controlled tank prior to entering the system. The tank provides an unpressurized source of fluid at the required flow rates. 2 Container Based on application, special proprietary containers in a variety of sizes and configurations offer air tight delivery of granulated and powdered chemicals to the system. A sealed package delivers fresh, uncontaminated product with reduced hazards to personnel, surrounding equipment and the environment. 3 Mixing Chamber Product is drawn into the mixing chamber and introduced to circulating fluid where the mixing process begins. Negative pressure within the chamber aids in drawing product from sealed containers. The quantity of product introduced into solution is fully adjustable and determined by the frequency and duration of each blending sequence. Since vacuum is continuously applied to both the chamber and product container, contamination to and from outside elements is eliminated. 4 Dynamic Mixing Chamber Partially dissolved solution exits the vacuum mixing chamber and enters a second stage of high energy, low shear agitation designed to complete the mixing process. This stage of the system is designed to meet specific handling requirements of the product being blended. 5 Solution Pump The solution pump delivers the proper volume of fluid while maintaining a vacuum throughout the blending system. Kinetic energy stored in the moving solution aids in completing the mixing process. A variety of pump types can be utilized, each chosen to match volume requirements and handling characteristics of specific solutions. 6 Aging Tanks Some solutions, such as polymers require aging prior to their final application. Where appropriate, Hammonds can offer custom tankage capable of storing these products as they await metering into the production process. Additional injection pumps are available to precisely meter the aged solution. DOWNLOAD OUR LATEST CATALOG
